Saturday 10 March - Monday 31 December, 11am-4pm

The final year of Cotehele's First World War exhibition featuring photos, trench art and personal items loaned from members of the local community. Daily, except 25-26 December. (The event is free but normal admission charges apply to the venue).

Not many people are aware that Cotehele House is a war memorial. To commemorate the centenary of the First World War we are holding an exhibition of items loaned from members of the local community, who have generously shared their stories with us. The exhibition will be on until the end of 2018. This year's theme is 'Dulce et Decorum est', a poem written by Wilfred Owen during World War I, and published posthumously in 1920. The Latin title is taken from the Roman poet Horace and means "it is sweet and honorable...". In Owen's poem the words are followed by 'pro patria mori', which means "to die for one's country".

Children are very welcome. The exhibition is wheelchair accessible.
