King Cnut: Holding Back the Tide

The Dragon’s Den

DINOSAUR QUIZ TRAIL at Paradise Park

Back by popular demand, Paradise Park’s Dinosaur Quiz Trail runs from May to September.

Just like birds, many dinosaurs had feathers and laid eggs!

In between meeting the birds in the aviaries and at the free flying shows you can explore the grounds on your own dinosaur expedition. Search for the dinosaurs and their eggs, answer all the questions and we will award you our special ‘Paradise Park Professor of Palaeontology’ certificate!

You will be able to enjoy all the daily activities including the Eagles of Paradise Display (weather permitting), Carrot Time in the Fun Farm, twice daily Penguin feeding times, the indoor JungleBarn and much more.

The Otter Pool Cafe offers light lunches including homemade specials, local pasties, a wonderful selection of cakes and Cornish cream teas – plus for the Dinosaurs in Paradise event there will be kids’ lunchboxes with a dinosaur theme.

THE POOP TRAIL at Paradise Park this Whitsun

Animals come in all different shapes and sizes and so does their poo! Here is your opportunity to get the scoop on the poop with Paradise Parks fun and educational Whitsun ‘Poop Trail’.

You can learn how animals and birds use poop to define territory, establish status, find mates, build houses, and keep in touch with the rest of the species. Poop is also an ideal way of studying an animal without having to capture it... now that’s nifty.

So this Whitsun Half Term come and sniff out the clues and look out for piles of info on this fun and educational trail.

Once you have completed the Poop Trail, you can claim your official ‘Paradise Park Professor of Poop’ Certificate which will recognise your excellence in this field!

Rediscover retro video games from the pixelated past in the pop-up cardboard arcade, and get together with friends and family to play together.

Head up the premier league in Subbuteo tournaments (start practising your dribbling skills now!).

Take a journey through games from around the world in the Rainforest Biome, play hide and seek in the hidden corners of our Outdoor Gardens, and listen to story tellers in the Mediterranean Biome.

You can also get an insight into the history of games, and why play is so important – it could help you develop the skills to become a scientist or inventor in the future.

Duran Duran Live at Eden - BBC Music Day

3rd June, 2016

Legends Duran Duran will be headlining the finale of BBC Music Day at the Eden Project. They'll be joined by special guests Nile Rodgers, Laura Mvula and Izzy Bizu.

The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 as part of a four-hour special hosted by Sara Cox from 8pm to midnight. The concert will feature in a BBC One special programme broadcast later that weekend. BBC One's The One Show will also be coming live from the Eden Project in the build up to the concert.

Band members Simon Le Bon (lead vocals), Nick Rhodes (keyboard, vocals), John Taylor (bass, vocals) and drummer Roger Taylor all date from the band’s 1980s heyday.

BBC Music Day is returning for its second year, celebrating all types of music from around the UK and the Channel Islands. Bringing live music to people through an exciting range of events around the theme of collaboration, it aims to unite communities across different generations.

Cornwall Crafts Association 14-18 NOW Exhibition

7th June, 2016 - 31st July, 2016

Cornwall Crafts Association 14-18 NOW exhibition commemorating those who died in the First World War, in Trelissick House.

14-18 NOW is a programme of art connecting people with the First World War. The project takes place from 2014 to 2018 and is timed to mark the centenary of the war, which raged across Europe, Asia and Africa from 1914 to 1918.

Cornwall crafts association are taking part in this project with an exhibition in Trelissick House this June with the association creating pieces to commemorate those who died in the conflict.

Eden Sessions Live Music: Lionel Richie - SOLD OUT

Danny, the Champion of the World

Eden Sessions Live Music: Jess Glynne

22nd June, 2016

After a sell-out first event, Jess Glynne will now be performing on a second date at the Eden Project, as part of this summer’s Eden Sessions.

Jess is only the second British female solo artist to have five number-one singles in the UK, following her solo releases Hold My Hand and Don't Be So Hard on Yourself, and her feature on Tinie Tempah's Not Letting Go. She was also a featured artist on Clean Bandit's single Rather Be and Route 94's My Love, both of which reached number one in 2014.

Jess reached the top ten in 2014 with debut solo single, Right Here. Her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, was released in 2015 and reached number one on the UK Albums Chart.

Jess was nominated for three BRIT Awards – Breakthrough Act, British Female Solo Artist and British Single of the Year for her single Hold My Hand – and performed live at the show earlier this year.

Eden Sessions Live Music: Tom Jones - SOLD OUT

Living legend Tom Jones will headline a show at the Eden Sessions on Sunday 26 June 2016. He last played in Cornwall in September 1983 at the now-closed Cornwall Coliseum in Carlyon Bay near St Austell.
Along with sustaining his popularity as a live performer and recording artist for five decades, he has garnered – at the age of 75 – critical acclaim for his recent trilogy of albums Praise & Blame, Spirit In The Room, and Long Lost Suitcase.

Our Town

Eden Sessions Live Music: PJ Harvey

27th June, 2016

Harvey, who played at Eden in 2003, is the only artist to win the Mercury Prize twice (in 2001 for Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea, and in 2011 for Let England Shake).

She has just released her ninth studio album, The Hope Six Demolition Project. The album was recorded during a month-long residency in London's Somerset House, where audiences were given the opportunity to see Harvey at work with her band and producers in a purpose-built studio.

Besides music, Harvey is an accomplished sculptor, poet, actor and composer. She was awarded an MBE in 2013 for services to music.

Summertime - Songs and Jazz in the Garden

Eden Sessions Live Music: Manic Street Preachers

For the first time, Manic Street Preachers come to play the legendary Eden Sessions in Cornwall on Saturday 9 July, a decade since they last played the county. They will be playing material from their 12-album back catalogue, which includes tracks such as A Design For Life, Motorcycle Emptiness, Your Love Alone Is Not Enough, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, among countless others.

Manic Street Preachers have won four BRIT Awards, 11 NME Awards and seven Q Awards. Last year, they were given the prestigious Ivors Inspiration Award at the Ivor Novello Awards.

Their Eden news comes hot on the heels of the announcement of the 20th Anniversary reissue of their seminal 1996 album Everything Must Go. The band will be touring the UK in May playing the album in full as well as some of their hits from over the years. This comes on the back of one of their most critically received records, their 12th studio album Futurology, which charted in the top five in the UK.

Fal River Walk 2016

Visit Cornwall in late September to undertake the iconic Fal River Charity Walk, which provides a once a year opportunity to complete a 15 mile circuit of the Fal estuary on foot starting and finishing at Trelissick. The event, which also includes a 5 mile alternative, is organised by the Rotary Club of Truro Boscawen in conjunction with the National Trust. It is a charity walk, with approximately half of all entry fees going to charity.
