Great Big Gig Build
1st June, 2015 - 7th April, 2016In a first for the Maritime Museum, this exciting new project will see a team of wounded, injured and sick armed forces personnel and veterans building their own specially adapted Cornish pilot gig to compete in the 2016 World Pilot Gig Championships.
The project, which is partly funded by the Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant, will see participants working with renowned gig builder Andrew Nancarrow and visitors will be able to see the construction as it happens in the Museum’s workshop gallery.
How Europe Saw the World
3rd October, 2015 - 24th April, 2016Over 400 years ago vivid visual and written descriptions of pioneering voyages to the Americas, Africa, India and the Far East reached Europe in the form of finely detailed copperplate engravings. This exhibition presents the alluring images of Flemish engraver Theodore de Bry, amongst the earliest ever published. Between 1590 and 1602 de Bry illustrated the diverse customs and people who lived in distant lands, including their nautical traditions.

Father Christmas and friends at Eden (selected dates only)
28th November, 2015 - 24th December, 2015‘Tis the season when Father Christmas takes up residence at Eden, along with his elves and reindeer friends. On selected dates you can pay the man in red himself a visit, and enjoy an enchanting story that will delight children and big kids alike. Begin your special experience with a visit to the reindeer – can you help the elves to find the magic ingredient that goes into their food? Then join Father Christmas in his cosy grotto, for a mesmerising story beside the fire and a special moment for each child.

The meet Father Christmas experience is not included in Eden Project admission; additional charge applies (under 12 months free).
Guided House Tours
28th November, 2015 - 29th November, 2015Visitors to Lanhydrock this autumn can enjoy some fascinating guided tours of the house as well as the glorious autumn colour in the garden and estate. The tours, which are running over weekends in November, will tell the story of Lanhydrock using 12 portraits of the family who used to live there.
The collection features some charming paintings of the family’s children, who were often painted with their pets, as well as the eldest son Tommy who was an MP for S.E. Cornwall and St Austell but died at the Battle of Loos in 1915. Visitors can enjoy seeing a range of watercolour, oils and chalk and charcoals brought to life.
The guided tours are running between 11am – 4pm, with the last tour at 3pm.
Winter admission fees apply and members are free.
Eden's Enchanted Rainforest (selected dates only)
28th November, 2015 - 30th December, 2015After the popularity of last year, Eden has once again joined with renowned Cornish theatre company Wildworks to create a magical and unique Christmas experience – on selected dates in November and December.
The Yule-tide Ark-ive will transform the humid tropics of Eden's Rainforest Biome into an enchanted wonderland, celebrating memories of Christmas past through live performance, music and unexpected moments of festive loveliness; a delight for all ages!
Imagine a time in the far future when Christmas has lost its meaning... A band of intrepid time travellers from a museum of the future have made a journey back in time to Eden to try and rediscover the true spirit of Christmas. Help them by sharing your own favourite memories and rituals.
Performances take place from 4pm on selected dates (please note the Rainforest Biome will close for one hour before the performance begins). View the full schedule online.

Celebrate Christmas at Lanhydrock

It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Victorians
1 December 2015 – 3rd January 2016, 11am – 4pm every day except Christmas Day
Enjoy the magically decorated gardens and visit the house to celebrate the Christmas traditions which originated in the Victorian period. Peruse the shop for special gifts and enjoy festive food in the restaurant. Children can enjoy Christmas trails, crafts and a visit to Father Christmas. The cycle trails and estate will also be open for winter bikes rides and walks.
Father Christmas is available on 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th December, £2 per child

Santa’s Grotto at Paradise Park in Hayle
5th December, 2015 - 6th December, 2015Make your child’s Christmas special with a visit to see Santa in his magical grotto.
He’s making a list, and checking it twice, going to find out who’s naughty and nice!”
Yes Santa Claus is coming to town, and he will be with his assistant fairy or elf in their cosy sitting room grotto at Paradise Park on Saturday and Sundays 5th & 6th, 12th & 13th then from Friday 18th right through to the 24th December!
To top it all off you can enjoy tasty turkey and cranberry sauce hot panini rolls which will be available in the Otter Pool Cafe.

Board the Santa Train bound for Santa's magical Christmas grotto where children will meet and receive a specially selected gift from Santa himself!
Also look out for his trusty helpful Elf who is on hand to add some extra Christmas magic!
The trains depart from Benny Halt at 11.00am, 12.20pm, 1.40pm and 3.00pm.
An additional late train will run at 4.20pm on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th December.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your booked train time.

Christmas at Eden
31st December, 2015 - 4th January, 2016Father Christmas and his friends may have left for another year, but you’ll still find a wonderful winter wonderland to explore at Eden, with a whole range of festive delights to enjoy. Take a glide (or slide...!) on the ice rink, then warm up in the heat of the Rainforest Biome. Create something special to take home in free craft workshops, or just make the most of a beautiful Eden that’s full of Christmas sparkle and lights.
